Camilla Luddington named as the new Lara Croft

You may know her from US Drama, True Blood, but Camilla Luddington has been announced as the new face for the Tomb Raider series.

Luddington will be the “performance actress” for the series and will go to gaming events to promote Tomb Raider.

According to Square Enix the actress has ”both a depth of emotion and the youthful tone needed for Lara Croft”. Darrell Gallagher, head of studio at Crystal Dynamics commented on Luddington’s selection saying:

This Tomb Raider game is very different to any other and we are demanding far more from the voice and performance acting than ever before as we take the franchise in a new direction.

Other than True Blood Luddington has previously worked on various US TV shows and even played Kate Middleton in William & Kate, a film shot for television.

Previously we have had Alison Carroll playing Lara Croft. The gymnast, model and actress was clearly used as more of a sex symbol than anything else. We hope that Luddington can balance her sex appeal along with the sense of fragility and desperation that we saw in the latest trailer.
