Aliens: Colonial Marines has once again been delayed. The game was originally due to come out earlier this year and was pushed back to August, but now has been given the even later release date of February the 12th.
Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said, “I am thrilled to announce the definitive launch date for Aliens: Colonial Marines. Aliens: Colonial Marines is the culmination of a life-time of inspiration from the films and relentless passion and drive from the exceptionally talented development team behind the scenes.”
Gary Knight, senior VP of marketing for Sega Europe and America, added, “We knew this game would be incredible from the moment Gearbox began developing Aliens: Colonial Marines. Now that the title is in its final stretch of development, we can confidently release the exact date that gamers will finally get to experience this blockbuster thrill-ride.”
Despite this disappointment Sega was kind enough to release a trailer, to soften the blow of the delay. We’re disappointed so see, however, that it only includes footage we’ve already seen in a previous demo.
Seeing how there is a slew of AAA titles prepping for E3 and that major developers already taking on the next gen, we are happy that Sega and Gearbox have decided to push back Aliens: Colonial Marines for additional polish. Especially with a brand such as Aliens, it’s important to note that gameplay lives off of the suspense.
