Creative Director at Irrational Games, Ken Levine, recently posted an update on the studio’s homepage, announcing that BioShock Infinite will be pushed back to a 2013 release.

“When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing,” Levine wrote. “Since then, we’ve come to realize that some specific tweaks and improvements will make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February 26, 2013. We wanted to let our loyal (and very patient!) fans know this as soon as possible.”

He goes on to explain that due to the scale of Infinite, the team simply needs time to refine their work, because they are doing things, nobody “has ever done in a first-person shooter”.

Nonetheless, fans won’t be getting their first look at the final build of the game at this year’s conventions, as the next times we will be seeing the title, it will be “the product [Irrational Games intends] to put in the box”.
