Cancelled Crash Team Racing emerges

Crash Team Racing has been MIA for quite some time now and it appears as if we will not be getting an iteration of this game for the current gen at all, as screenshots from a cancelled project have emerged.

The racer was originally planned to be released in 2010 and was being developed by High Impact Games, a studio made up of former Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games employees. This was first spotted in two years ago:

High Impact Games / Burbank, CA
Unannounced Racing – Prototype – PS3 – Xbox 360 - Nintendo Wii

§  Coordinated – Directed all animation for Prototype.
§  Created Toy Prototypes for Characters and Functionality within game.

We assume that after CTR launched on PSN in 2007 in the Erope, in 2008 in Japan, and in 2010 in North America, the sales numbers simply did not speak for a sequel.

While the images do not present mind boggling visuals, the overall style throws us back to earlier Crash titles. We wonder when the former Playstation mascot will make his official return, on wheels or not. Maybe it is time for another online petition?
