A group of Dutch developers have come forward to create a game about cultural heritage and action-adventure elements, delivering a title with a lot of personality.
Cross of the Dutchman tells the story of Frisian legend “Grutte Pier” (Pier the Great) a folk hero who fought for the freedom of Friesland. The developers at Triangle Studios, who are producing this title, plan to create an “authentic product” that doesn’t only reflect the story of Pier, but also “what living in the 16th century must have been like”.
Triangle is still looking to finance their endeavour with the aid of Kickstarter pledging for $50,000. Funds will be directed towards:
- New game modes, Multiplayer co-op is on the very top of our list.
- Voice overs for the entire campaign.
- Additional main and sidequests.
- Additional characters and animations.
- Additional cutscenes (see teaser trailer).
- Hire translators to localize the game to German, French, Spanish and Italian (In addition to English, Dutch and Frisian).
- Attend tradeshows such as the GDC and GamesCOM to form partnerships that allows us to bring the game to consoles.
- Fund the writing and publishing of the novel Cross of the Dutchman.
The developers plan to release a beta of the game in the third quarter of this year and if production runs “smoothly” the final product will be released soon after the testing phase. $25 backers will gain access to the beta and $15 will already get you the finished version.
We hope to meet the talent behind this project at this year’s GamesCOM, be sure to hear more details in the coming months.
