Sony announced via their Blogcast that they will release the multiplayer component from Killzone 3 as a free download. PS3 owners will be able to download and play online for free, but will have their experience capped at an unannounced level. If you want to remove this cap you can but it’ll cost you $14.99 (UK price tba).

Why would you want to pay for something you get for free? Well if you want to unlock all the special abilities or weapons you’ll have to.

This is a great move by Sony, sucking people in with a free deal and (Sony will hope) getting them hooked on the game, leading to an eventual purchase. You can get your hands on Killzone 3′s multiplayer next week.
