Hot on the heels of Microsoft, it is EA Games chance to show off their big software releases for the coming year, only at E3 2012!
Crysis 3, Dead Space 3 and Medal of Honor: Warfighter are expected to lead the charge, but what secrets might EA have in store for their fans – stick with us to find out!
Same as before, the article will be updated throughout the event, so remember to hit F5 or the Refresh button on your browser to see the latest information!
The conference has kicked off with a trailer of all the big franchises which have come to define EA – Star Wars: The Old Republic, Battlefield 3, Madden, Fifa, as well as the upcoming titles such as Crysis 3, Dead Space 3 and Sim City.
John Riccitiello has taken to the stage, promising this conference will showcase 10 big developers showing 10 big games.
First up – Dead Space 3. The old Isaac Clarke from Dead Space 2 has returned as vocal as he was in the second instalment in the franchise. The snow planet environment which was rumoured seems to be this games main environment.
Drop-in/drop-out Co-operative will be a big feature, including new environments and new character John Carver.
The familiar gameplay from previous Dead Space titles returns – necromorph behemoths continue to cause Isaac trouble, while various contraptions in the environment succumb to your mining suits inbuilt abilities. It also seems that Dead Space 3 has taken a leaf out of Gear of War 2′s book, with Isaac diving into the belly of one of the beasts. Glowing weak spots abound.
Dead Space 3 demo has ended – next up is a live action / gameplay mash up for the new Madden NFL 13.
Infinity Engine physics have come to the Madden series, enhancing the realism and affecting every single collision and tackle.
Hall of Fame player Michael Irvin has taken to the stage to show off the new career mode in the next instalment in the NFL series.
Manage your team through PC, tablets, phones, and your console – and sync up your account to Twitter to ensure everyone knows what is new in your game. Staying connecting across every device seems to be a consistent theme of this year’s E3.
Sim City Social is announced on stage – a new game coming to the social media site Facebook.
The best city building experience on Facebook, coming to the site in a few weeks – but what everyone cares about is the new Sim City, sporting the new GlassBox Engine.
A new trailer for the fully fleshed out Sim City game introduces us to the new graphics for the game, but more significantly the new multiplayer aspect – a new inclusion for the series.
Riccitiello has pointed to Jason West and Vince Zampella, the former Infinity Ward guys who recently settled their law suit against Activision, the terms of which remain a closely guarded secret – and on to Battlefield 3. Subtle segue there.
Battlefield 3 Premium will bring members access to four new massive add-on packs for the games, each themed around certain aspects of the game, including the introduction of motorcycles. Battlefield 3 Premium is available today for Ps3, and other platforms next week.
Dr Ray Muzyka from Bioware has come to the stage to discuss the successful launch of their MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. New PVP war zones, companion characters, playable races, level cap raise, and a new planet are all on their way, promising to form part of Bioware’s premium MMO service.
Medal of Honor: Warfighter is next up – Battlefield 3 may not have had it’s day end yet, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t excited for the new Frostbite 2 shooter. A gameplayer demo is being played through on stage, showing off the beautiful graphics as boats and helicopters assault a pirate enclave.
The new gameplay demo shows off everything that Frostbite 2 can do. The lighting engine looks simply stunning – bits of the scenery explode as bullets fly past the player’s head. Dust floats in the air as the player paints a target – soon demolished by an air strike.
Gameplay shifts to a remote controlled drone, dispatching enemy soldiers with clinical efficiency. A stray shot hits a friendly NPC in the head – he flinches but remains unharmed – oops!
The demonstration rounds off with reaffirming the release date – 23 October – before a new gameplay trailer asks you “Who will you fight for?”. Global Warfighter will allow you to play as one of 12 different elite units around the world – but which one will take your fancy when the fighting starts?
Hot on the heels of Warfighter is the announcement of a new social game – Madden NFL Social. Start the game on Facebook and finish it on your phone.
And now what millions of fans will have been waiting to see – Fifa takes the stage – Football’s Social Network.
A new phone App will be just one new addition to the massive number of social features which make Fifa a genuine social network for football fans – just one new way that your online profile will persist from Fifa 12, to Fifa Street and beyond.
The first gameplay trailer for Fifa 13 is up on the big screen, showing off the player impact engine, new first touch control, and the addition of ‘complete dribbling’, allowing the player new ways to ensure every touch counts.
EA Games big reveal! UFC have signed a massive multi-year deal with EA Games. Poor THQ.
From fancy footwork to fast cars, as the new Criterion Game Need for Speed: Most Wanted hits the big screen with Prodigy’s Firestarter playing in the background. An open world driving game, where players can race and explore the world to become the ‘Most Wanted’ in a community.
Auto-Log returns to help you keep track of your friends.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted will hit shelves 30 October.
Crysis 3 looks set to close the EA Press Conference. The 7 wonders of the New York Nano Dome are referenced, but what everyone really wants to see is the gameplay demo.
The gameplay is the same as in Crysis 2, but what undoubtedly steals this gameplay demo is the beautiful combination of foliage with the crumbling New York environment – the quintessential urban jungle.
And that’s it for the second to today’s press conferences – but don’t go anywhere, Ubisoft is up in an hour!
