The first gameplay trailer from FIFA 13 has been released by EA. The video shows off some of the games new features which will hopefully ensure the series’ annual release is worth £40.
Free Kicks have been revamped with the footage showing players pulling off multiple dummies, playing mind games with opponents, tricking the opponents wall to jump or break earlier.
A new update to the impact engine, has made FIFA 13 more realistic. Smaller, more skillful players, such as Barcelona’s Sanchez who is spotted taking on bigger players while under pressure, can get a last ditch cross before tumbling to the floor.
First touch control has been improved, ensuring that many fans groans are silenced. Gamers now have bigger control over their first touch on the ball and one player is even spotted flicking up the ball up and laying themselves up for a volley.
The biggest addition to FIFA 13 is the new Complete Dribbling system. Players will now have more accurate control of where they place the ball, keeping possession by dragging the ball around and utilising quick turns. This is similar to the latest FIFA Street game where players had better control of the ball and could shimmy around other footballers.
We are impressed with the latest additions to the FIFA 13, but worry that the Complete Dribbling system, with players such as Messi and Ronaldo, could become overpowering. Especially regarding sports games, the proof is in the pudding. So we will see when the game is released later this year.
Improvements to the AI promise to help the realistic feel of FIFA 13, with players tracking their teammates movements and making better attacking and defensive positioning and runs.
EA have also announced Kinect functionality for FIFA 13 that allows players to perform substitutions and make tactical changes. Voice commands can also be used to shout and abuse the ref, with the commentary changing depending on your reaction. If you are anything like me, this will be negative all the time as expletives get thrown around the room at the ‘fake decisions’ made.
