High street stores GAME and Gamestation have begun to close since going into administration. 45% of GAME Group’s shops across the UK and Northern Ireland have been shut since the process began yesterday. This means that 277 of the 609 video game shops are now closed down as the company begin the procedure of administration.

The company administrating GAME is Pricewaterhousecoopers. As of 2011, PWC has been the world’s largest professional services firm that has a list of clients who include Northern Rock and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The Sunday Times states that a consortium of companies, led by RBS, that have lent to GAME, are discussing a bid to buy the company out of their multi-million pound debt, and create a new company with fewer high street shops.

Many people are speculating on the outcome of the administration process, and whether GAME and Gamestation will recover from this downfall.

Not only have high street stores started closing, but both companies websites are currently down while this situation is sorted.

You can find a list of the closed shops .
