Kaz Hirai has stepped down from his position as Representative Director and Chairman for Sony Computer Entertainment. He will not leave the company outright and will continue to work on a part-time capacity.

Hirai will maintain his position as President and CEO of Sony Corporation. He will now turn his attention towards Sony’s TV, music and phones divisions.

Many of you will remember Hirai for his role in Sony’s 2006 E3 presentation, which made him the perfect material for internet jokes, such as the one below.
