Yesterday a user under the name of Manlytears posted on the Super Meat Boy forums, claiming that the developers at Team Meat had infringed his copyright for the Forever Alone Guy.

“Now I sent you multiple emails which have been ignored over the past few weeks and you didn’t even have the decency to even reply so here we are,” Manlytears wrote. “I sent you direct links to the actual official copyright link it is registered to and you still fail to give me an answer? I wouldn’t have minded if you asked permission to use ‘Forever alone’ in SMB but you didn’t, and after I made you aware of it you continued to ignore me. You even used the term ‘Forever alone’ so you can’t excuse the fact it’s breaching on my copyright.”

One of the forum moderators, Zarkith answered by saying “no one will take this seriously”, because the meme apparently surfaced in 2009 on 4chan and Manlytears is trying to claim rights to the illustration, over a year after Super Meat Worlds release. He goes on to explain that the character in question, Doctor Fetus, is merely based on Forever Alone Guy and is therefore an original idea.

The supposed copyright owner answered by saying that he is not only a 4chan veteran, but had sent a legal PDF he had which included the mentioned image, which was illustrated in 2005. He finishes his post claiming that he has already taken down 24 websites and collected royalties from over 61 different pages over this picture.

Zarkith gathered all of his linguistic skills in a final reply, stating, “Your e-peen must be huge then, you must’ve had a foreskin the size of circus tent!”

It can’t be said at this point in time if Manlytears is the true artist behind Forever Alone Guy but the points he raises are not purely made up. My guess is that the only reason Team Meat hasn’t answered yet, is that they possibly wanted to consult their lawyers first.
