G4TV have released a gameplay video for Dishonored, the new Steampunk FPS adventure title from Arkane Studios.
Co-Creative Directors Harvey Smith and Raphael Colotonio were on hand throughout the video demonstration to discuss the unique, Victorian London-inspired setting, as well as some of the abilities awarded to the player in this upcoming game.
Blink, a short-range teleportation ability is shown off, allowing the player quick and fluid traversal of the environment, while other abilities in your arsenal allow you to possess animals and even stop time.
Creative kills are the name of the game – be it simple stealth kills as you sneak around an environment as a fish looking for the opportune moment, or those utilising a more complicated combinations of abilities; one such example referenced in the trailer details a gamer stopping time when shot at, possessing the shooter, and manoeuvring them in front of their own speeding bullet.
The oft-quoted inspirations for the game - Bioshock, Assassin’s Creed, Thief – all bleed through into the gameplay shown in the trailer. Enemies are quickly killed with grave and finesse, NPC pockets swiftly emptied of their contents, and we are shown a world of intricate detail which we just can’t wait to explore for ourselves.
Dishonored will be available on PS3, Xbox 360 and the PC, and is set to hit store shelves on October 9 in North America and October 12 for Europe.
