Last week Pokemon game director, Junichi Masuda, hinted that there would be a big announcement for the franchise on the Japanese TV show, Pokemon Smash. Masuda delivered on his promise as Pokemon Black/White 2 was announced.

The game is being made for the DS and will be released in June in Japan. This is sure to dissapoint 3DS owners who would have been hoping for their favourite creatures to pop-out at them while they were playing.

Oddly, this is the first Pokemon game to be a numbered sequel. Usually they are released as a new colour, so perhaps this will take an alternate direction to previous releases.

Very few details have been announced for the game and the best we could dig up was this teaser site that shows off the game’s two legendary Pokemon.
