Project X Zone (pronounced Project Cross Zone) is the official name of the mystery crossover game between Sega, Namco Bandai and Capcom. The  game was officially announced via Famitsu.

The new 3DS game is not what many expected. Instead of being a beat-em up, as heavily rumoured, the game will instead be a strategy game in a similar vein to Namco x Capcom.

The collaboration between gaming’s powerhouses will see several characters from each company colliding. Characters such as Ryu and Ken will battle against Akira and Yurie to create some of the best ‘what if’ battles in gaming history. Check out the list below.

Capcom:

Ryu & Ken (Street Fighter 0), X and Zero (Mega Man), Demitri and Dante (Darkstalkers and Devil May Cry), Chris and Jill (Resident Evil)

Sega:
Shinguji Sakura and Ogami Ichiro (Sakura Wars), Pai and Akira (Virtua Fighter), Kurt and Riela (Valkyria Chronicles), Ulala and Touma (Space Channel 5 and Shining Force EXA)

Namco Bandai:
Sanger Somvold (Super Robot Wars), Jin and Ling Xiaoyu (Tekken), Kos-Mos and T-elos (Xenosaga), Yurie and Estel (Tales of Vesperia), Kaito and Black Rose (.hack)

Namco Bandai and Capcom previously worked together on Namco x Capcom for the PS2. Unfortunately the game never managed to make it to UK or US shores. We hope that Project X Zone manages to make it outside of Japan.
