Namco has released a whole pile of new info and media on their latest game, Ridge Racer Unbounded. The game takes a step away from the series arcade, drift-friendly roots and reminds us of a cross between Burnout and Split Second.

Namco have listed the new modes in the game. The blurb reads:

“-The Ridge Racer series takes off in a new direction with Ridge Racer Unbounded.
-Join the Unbounded team, a group of lawless racers, terrorizing Shatter Bay’s streets, and expand your ever growing territory.
-Drive & Destroy everything in your path to create new areas that were once off limits.

-Go online to Dominate and race an unlimited supply of user created maps.”

Players who pre-order Ridge Racer Unbounded will unlock a free car and set of paint jobs. The PS3, Xbox 360 and PC each have their own unique vehicle which you can spot below along with some new screenshots.

Namco have also released the Track Editor and European launch trailer. By far the most impressive video is the Track Editor. We are absolutely blown away with how deep the customisation looks. Everything from triple corkscrews to individual cars are moved about to create some amazing looking tracks. If this game manages to sell well, we can imagine some astounding stuff being created.

We are absolutely pumped for the release of Ridge Racer Unbounded. This over-the-top arcade racer is a dying breed. We just hope it has split-screen multiplayer and then this will be the perfect racer.
