There was one huge game that was missing from Sony’s e3 Press Conference. Team Ico’s The Last Guardian was a big omission and left many fans wondering why the game was missing from E3.
Speaking to Gamespot Sony’s Scott Rohde addressed the matter,
“I will not give you a detailed update, but I will say one thing. It goes back in my mind to innovation and to gamers and to quality. That title is going to ship when it is absolutely ready.”
Rohde continued to discuss The Last Guardian’s release date saying,
“And I think that’s a really important thing to remember, that it would be very easy to ship a game when it’s not quite ready because we need to meet a business plan. Gamers are first. And the experience that we provide is first. And that’s why we’re going to talk about that game when we’re ready to talk about it.”
We are not entirely sure what is happening with The Last Guardian, but things do not look good. Fumito Ueda resigned from the company three years into the game’s development and is now working on The Last Guardian on a freelance basis. The game’s executive producer and Sony Computer Entertainment’s Vice President, Yoshifusa Hayama, has also left the company this year.
