We could get a sequel to the third-person shooter Shadows of the Damned. Despite the game getting mediocre review scores (we would have given it a 6 or 7 if we were around then) and not selling that well, according to Akira Yamaoka we could see a sequel commenting ”I’m thinking of a sequel, actually”. When he was asked if EA would back a new game he answered ”Well, yes.”
The later levels of Shadows of the Damned were the best and it seemed as if the game was cut short due to development costs. The story, characters and twisted imagery of Goichi Suda were all there, but it felt a bit half-baked.
Lead Designer Suda was less than happy with the game’s sales figures. In an interview with Eurogamer he commented: ”I think it’s really difficult to be successful with a new IP,” he said at last year’s TGS. “You really need an extraordinary amount of support to have a new franchise be successful. Unfortunately we couldn’t really do as well as we hoped for.”
We’d love to see a sequel to Shadows of the Damned, as long as it got the time and money needed to create something decent. Plus, I’d pay to shoot my big boner again.
