Three new trailers have emerged from E3, detailing Halo 4‘s multiplayer and Spartan Ops mode: an episodic branching story following the UNSC Infinity.
The first two trailers focus on the multiplayer component of Halo 4. For the first time, multiplayer is given context within the Halo universe: taking place onboard the UNSC Infinity, the largest Earth vessel ever constructed, the ship boasts a massive training simulator in which Spartan-IV super soldiers can train to become the best fighting force in the galaxy.
Delving into one of the competitive multiplayer modes in more depth, the second trailer to be released showcases War Games. As with all multiplayer modes, the War Games simulation takes place within the Infinity’s combat deck. The trailer shows off the classic Halo combat, which we have grown to love over the last decade.
Evolutions to the series, which have emerged over the last 10 years, such as assassinations, return once more while new additions including what appears to be the ability to call in for weapon drops, also make an appearance in this second trailer.
Spartan Ops is set to introduce a new story-driven element to the Halo franchise – a series whose charm has often been the draw of the multiplayer mayhem. The new game mode will follow the story of the UNSC Infinity as the vessel dips in-and-out of the main Halo 4 narrative.
Delivered through weekly episodic chunks, the new singleplayer campaign will merge the story-telling, cutscenes and traditional Halo action in this exciting new mode.
