Sonic 2 HD Alpha has been released online. Usually we ignore stories like this, but the unofficial game looks absolutely amazing. Everything has been upgraded into HD and now we look at this we are not sure why Sega has not done this earlier. Just take a look at the screenshots below and some of the comparisons between the old and new games and you’ll understand.

According to the developer’s blog:  ”The Sonic 2 HD Alpha Release is a fan game entirely developed by TeamS2HD, and we believe our efforts and teamwork to represent the classic Sonic franchise as we, the hardcore fans, have always envisioned it to be.”

Sonic 2 HD Alpha is available to download for free, although we are slightly sceptical of downloading it as several users have reported that it carries a Trojan virus.

Let’s hope that these guys get hired and that the game does not disappear like the  Streets of Rage Remake did.
