It is official! Super Meat Boy is coming to iOS and other devices soon. The news came directly from the horse’s mouth too, with Team Meat releasing the story on their blog.

Team Meat have always said that their game would not work on touch devices if ported over and we could not agree more. What they have decided to do is make a new Super Meat Boy game. By the looks of the screenshot everything looks simplified, although it is still early days.

This said, the announcement was made yesterday, on April Fools Day. So this could be one nasty hoax. Below is what they had to say about their new release (if it is real):

What the game is:

- A feature length touch controlled platformer SPECIFICALLY designed for Touch devices.

What the game isn’t:

- a shitty port of an existing game with non tactile buttons spread all over the screen blocking the players view and making for frustrating controls.

- the Super Meat Boy you’re used to, there are aspects of Super Meat Boy in there, obviously, but this is a brand new game with new art, new sound, everything.
