Deadline.com has released an exclusive article surrounding plans for an upcoming Twisted Metal feature film. Sony Pictures supposedly has made a 7-figure deal for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance co-director Brian Taylor to write and direct a live action adaptation of the Playstation classic.

Avi and Ari Arad have been hired as producers, bringing their experience to the table from films such as Ghost Rider, Sony’s Spider-Man movie series including the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man.

The films story will involve an underground tournament run by Calypso, where the participants fight to the death, so that he may understand “what makes a peaceful man violent, what terrifies a violent man and who will make a Faustian bargain in which they risk their lives”. Announced characters so far are Sweet Tooth and Doll Face.

Considering the talent behind this project, we shouldn’t be expecting oscar-nominated dialogue but some intense action-sequences with a lot of special effects.
