It seems more and more likely that Valve will step into the console market with the company applying for patents on a new controller.
Interestingly the controller works with swappable components. This means that users can replace an analogue stick with a d-pad or another type of input. We like the idea, but worry that the pad’s quality will suffer for this function.
This is just a patent though and doesn’t guarantee that a new console is imminent. For all we know Valve could be making a move into the peripherals market.
Recently images were released of what could be a prototype of the Steam Box.
