With Gears of War: Judgement’s release just around the corner Epic have decided to up the ante by offering players a free copy of the first game in the series. According to the latest rumours, players who purchase Epic’s prequel will receive a free code to download Gears of War from Xbox Live.
Giving away a free game can only help to bolster sales but we fear this could be to distract people from Judgement, which has been hampered by several big names leaving the project.
The report states:
As we reported a source close to Microsoft, Gears of War: Judgment, the fourth title in the franchise being developed by People Can Fly, will also include the first Gears of War, published in 2006. Those who purchase the game will have a download code that will give access to a digital version of this first issue, definitely a good incentive to boost sales of this spin-off.
Gears of Wars: Judgment hits stores on March 22 this year exclusively for the box 360 and will explain the events before the original trilogy, from the perspective of Baird, who will take the lead role in the shooter .
Giving away a free game can only help to bolster sales, but we fear this could be to distract people from Judgement’s quality, which has been hampered by several big names leaving the project.
Released in 2006, Gears of War was one of the biggest titles for the Xbox 360 and has you controlling Dom and Marcus as they attempt to quash the locust invasion.
