Jonathan Ross was at the BAFTA Game Awards to present The Game of the Year Award.

As funny and energetic as ever, he was kind enough to stop and take a few questions us and other members of the media.

(M= Media, JR =Jonathan Ross)

M: What award are you here to present tonight?

JR: I’m presenting greatest game in the universe up to this point award.

M: What do you think is the greatest game ever?

JR: I think Ghouls and Ghosts 16-bit on the Mega Drive or Tawasugin on the Mega Drive years ago. It’s an upwards scrolling shooter-em up which has never been beaten, also King of Fighters on the Neo Geo.

M: If it were just up to you, who would be winning the Best Game Award tonight?

JR: I’m not actually sure who’s in that category tonight. I presume it’d be Call of Duty, Batman, Mass Effect 3 is too late. I imagine one of the Uncharted games is in there.

M: It isn’t.

JR: It isn’t? Well I’ve been playing the new Uncharted on the Vita and it’s a really good machine. I wonder whether handheld consoles are facing certain doom because of these little fellows, you know, the phones. The processing they have in it is great. The graphics are great. I love the backwards-fiddling thing. I don’t think they’ve trademarked it as the backwards-fiddling thing. I don’t know anything about the games. Here’s the thing, you don’t get into that category unless you are a really good game.  All of those games are imminently playable, they are immersive you want to come back for more, you can’t wait to get back into that world. Brilliantly written. Brilliantly designed. I’d be happy for any of them to win.

M: You are obviously well up on your games.

JR: I am but my son Harvey here plays all the time and my wife is a big World of Warcraft and RIFT player.

M: You’re not into World of Warcraft?

JR: It’s one of those crack-like games isn’t it.

M: How do you think games should evolve?

JR: I think we should go back to the 8-bit era, seriously. I get lost in these horrible 3D worlds where you are running around. I’m still stuck on the roof of that zombie one [Left 4 Dead]. There was no button to open the door when I was playing it.

M: You can tell for me that I’m a huge Zumba fan.

JR: Thank you for your time and have a good evening.
