Battlefield 3 has been on shelves for a month now, and it has seen a great amount of success in the West. In the game a realistic scenario is created in an urban Iranian setting, featuring the landmark Grand Bazaar. Due to this, the Iranian government announced the ban of Battlefield 3. It is fairly common to see video games being banned in countries where the government perceive its storyline and intentions as promoting violence and war.
However, the Iranian people aren’t all in agreement with the law, and many shops have been selling the game illegally. A group of teenagers has organised a petition that now is signed by over 5,000 people that all wish to persuade the government to reverse the ban of the DICE shooter game. EA have only announced a statement saying that the ban will at least decrease the distribution of pirated copies of Battlefield 3.
