According to the Ukrainian gaming guru , S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is in development at it is being published by Bethesda.

Galyonkin claims that according to a “reliable source” Bethesda has acquired the rights to publish the popular franchise by Sergei Grigorovich, though they did not buy the brand itself.

The game’s development will be taking place in a studio outside of the Ukraine, with technology by Bethesda (possibly the Skyrim engine). Supposedly we might even see a console version of this title.

For now this is just a rumour, but seeing how fans have been asking for the revival of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise for quite some time, it would make sense to bring it back.

Though while post apocalyptic settings are one of Bethesda’s specialties, the fact that the development will not be taking place in the Ukraine, and that the game is making its way to consoles, we worry that we might not be getting a “true” successor to the first instalment.
