Bethesda has released a new trailer to their upcoming title, Dishonored, in which we get a glimpse at the game’s protagonist in a pre-rendered clip which feels like a mix of Assassin’s Creed and Bioshock.

Players will take control of “a supernatural assassin driven by revenge” by the name of Corvo, in a new distopian scifi setting created by Arkane Studios. “You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card,” Bethesda’s Blog states. “In a time of uncertainty, when the city is being besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government armed with strange technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you abilities beyond those of any common man.”

The game plans to deliver an experience, where users are able to chose their approach depending on their style either stalking their prey in the dark or simply going in guns blazing. To support the freedom of play, Dishonored brings forth “various supernatural abilities, unusual gadgets and weapons”.

The game is planned to be released sometime this year, so we can all look forward to soon dip into the dark world where guards resemble soldiers out of Team Fortress 2 who have been hired by Napoleon.
