EA pitching for a ‘Need for Speed’ film

It seems that EA did not  learn their lesson when trying to put story into the Need for Speed series and are now attempting to create their own film. According to a post on , EA are trying to create their own film franchise based on the series, with a similar style to films like The Fast and the Furious.

According to the post George and John Gatins who worked on the dire, Real Steel, are writing the script. John Gantis will then take the mantle of producer. and there are currently no other staff or stars associated with the film.

EA could be making huge figures off this film: ‘United Talent Agency, which reps EA, assembled the package whose script is being shopped around Hollywood, with Warner Bros., Sony and Paramount said to be interested in snatching film rights to the racing property, looking to offer low seven figures.’

Why EA are trying to make the Need for Speed series into films is beyond me. The game itself has no major plot linked to it, so it would be easy to write a wafer thin story for it, but at the same time it has no unique selling point other than the name itself.
