Enter the Dominatrix, part of the DLC scheduled for release with Saints Row: The Third, is to be included in a 2013 sequel instead, THQ announced.
The downloadable content, originally set for release in May, was planned to focus on a planned alien invasion which leads to the head of the Saints being imprisoned within a virtual reality simulation.
New President of THQ and co-founder of Naughty Dog, Jason Rubin said:
“When I looked at the Enter the Dominatrix expansion in production from Volition, I was blown away by the ideas and desire to expand the fiction of the franchise.
“I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. We all agreed that we wanted to play that game.
“When it comes to Saints Row, it’s clear our fans want bigger, better and even more over the top, and that’s why Enter the Dominatrix will not be incorporated into a vastly expanded, full fledged sequel, scheduled for calender 2012.”
Whether or not the new Saints Row game will heavily revolve around plot elements from the DLC, or whether that particularly narrative will just appear in the new title remains to be seen. Either way, we will have to wait until next year before we can all finally enter the Dominatrix.
