Gear of War film still in the works

It has been a while since we have had any news on the Gears of War film. Originally announced back in 2007, the Gears of War film was due to come out in 2010 but has been hampered by a series of problems. Recently the film has been forced to find a new production company after New Line pulled out of the picture in order to focus their efforts on The Hobbit films.

Several writers have worked on the film too with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey (Twilight), Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Chris Morgan (Wanted) and Billy Ray (Flightplan) all previously penning scripts for the adaptation.

With all of the changes concerning writers and production companies we thought that the Gears of War film was put in limbo, but, according to , it is still in production. The report states:

“Having generated more than $1 billion in sales since the first game bowed in 2006, and a fourth set for release next year, Creative Artists Agency is eager to meet with producers in the coming weeks and set up the project elsewhere, Variety has learned.”
