Nintendo have officially announced the 3DS XL. The updated handheld will feature a longer battery life, increasing players game time by two hours or so. The 3DS XL will also have larger screens. The top screen increases size from 3.58 inches to 4.88 inches. The lower screen’s size has been enlarged from 3.02 inches to 4.18 inches.

The new handheld will hit the European and Japanese market in July, with no official pricing. Instead Nintendo have said that they will let retailers set their own prices. Americans will have to wait until August to play the 3DS XL.

Today Nintendo also revealed that the 3DS and WiiU versions of Super Smash Bros. will be co-produced by Namco Bandai.
