Sony’s much rumoured answer to Super Smash Bros. has finally been announces as PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. The game was revealed yesterday on the popular gaming show GTTV.

The game only had six official characters to show, Sly (Sly Cooper), Kratos (God of War), Sweetooth (Twisted Metal), Fat Princess (Fat Princess), General Radic (Killzone)  and Parappa (Parappa the Rapper), although more characters will be announced in time, with Sony promising some third-party appearances too. We would be surprised if veterans such as Snake didn’t make it into this party brawler.

Levels from Little Big Planet, God of War and Ratchet and Clank can be seen in the game. As part of the mashup theme, the maps present some interesting combinations of different titles. For example, on the Ratchet and Clank level (see video below) you can clearly see a Leviathan.

While we are impressed with how the game looks, it has to be said that PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale looks like a completely rips off Super Smash Bros. series. Whether Sony can beat Nintendo at their own game is yet to be seen.
