A new advertisement for Sledgehammer Games has asked for “top talent for our [Sledeghammer Games] Call of Duty development team,”.
“Sledgehammer Games is looking for an exceptional online engineer to help bring our online experience to a new level,” it continues. “The candidate will be involved in the creation of multiplayer game modes and online community features for an unannounced high-end console title.”
Sledgehammer were originally working on a third person Call of Duty game but were shipped over to Infinity Ward to help out with making Modern Warfare 3. Speaking to CVG general manager Glen Schofield said that this project was most likely cancelled.
“I think that we will work alone on our next project. [Modern Warfare 3] has allowed both Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games to hire, and we hired really strong teams, both of us. We needed to come together on this one, but since then we’ve both grown, we’re both over 100 people now.
“Initially we weren’t fully functional because we had to learn a new engine. Now we have, I think the best thing that could happen for Activision would be for us to both go off and make our own game. Whether that’s a Call of Duty game or not is up in the air. I plan to continue working on Call of Duty.”
