In an interview with Game Informer, Sony Exec Shuhei Yoshida admitted that he thought Demon’s Souls was ”an unbelievably bad game.”
Based on his experience playing the game Sony then decided to only publish the game in Japan. Atlus took the reigns for publishing in Europe and the US and ultimately it paid off, with Demon’s Souls selling way more than initially expected.
Shuhei Yoshida admitted to Sony’s mistake saying, ”We definitely dropped the ball from a publishing standpoint, including studio management side. We were not able to see the value of the product we were making.”
He then carried on explaining the situation commenting, “We underestimated the quality of the game and to be honest, the media in Japan did the same.”

That’s why managers should be kept away of games business Now, when I said that…I think most industries would profit if they got rid of armies of useless managers. Most managers I’ve met are fake and mediocre persons.
