At E3 in 2010, Sony announced the newest addition to the Playstation 3: Playstation Plus. Users can subscribe to the service by paying for three months or a year, and in return they get discounted games, demos and free games. After the fatal hack of the PS3 system in April, PS3 owners were given a free monthly subscription to Playstation Plus, and then service returned to normal.
Today, Sony has sent out emails to PS3 users with 3 codes included. 1 code is for your personal use to try out the premium PS+ service for 30 days. The other 2 codes are for you to give to two of your friends so they can enjoy the experience. The offer will expire on March 31st 2012 so check your emails!
Sony claimed that in 2011 they have offered discounts worth £800 to Playstation Plus users. Yet the service does not seem to be overly popular, especially in comparison to Xbox Live for Xbox 360 members. However, the advantage of paying for Xbox Live is more immediate and necessary. But who can say no to a free trial?
