GTA 3 for iOS devices
With less than ten days to go, Rockstar have announced the re-release of Grand Theft Auto III for iOS devices. The game is set to commemorate the games 10th anniversary when it is released on October 22nd. Don’t get too excited though, unless you are lucky enough to own an iPad 2 or an iPhone 4S you wont be able to play the PS2 classic.
“Grand Theft Auto III showed us the potential of open world games,” said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games. “It helped set the vision for the company, and we have been expanding on those possibilities with every game ever since.”
Grand Theft Auto III was originally released in October 2001 and breathed new life into the sandbox genre. The game was universally praised (except by the Daily Mail) for its open world, mission variety and sense of humour. Even now the game still has a large following with mods regularly being released for the PC version of the game.
Arkham City leaked
Batman Arkham City is only a week away from release, but that hasn’t stopped some hackers out there getting hold of a copy early. According to The Dark Side of Gaming they managed to get a copy of the Batman’s latest outing in XGD3 format (that’s the new Xbox disc type to you commoners).
Arkham City has already had a lot of good press with positive reviews all round including a 97% from GamesMaster which called it, ‘One of the greatest games ever’, while Game Informer called the game ‘The best use of a license in the industry’s history’, giving it a 10/10.
Warner have yet to comment on the reports of a leak.
Phoenix Wright appears in Marvel vs Capcom 3
A while ago the new roster of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 fighters were leaked. To me, the most interesting of these new characters was Phoenix Wright, who stars in as a lawyer in Capcom’s DS games. How the lawyer would work in a fighting game left me bemused and intrigued.
Capcom kept quiet about the whole affair and slowly official information of on the characters started to trickle through about every other character under the sun, except for Mr Wright. Today the silence was broken and a host of screens and a video of the lawyer in action was released. Check out the video below to see how the character works in a brawl.
Activision making new Men in Black game
It has been over ten years since the first Men in Black film was released (we don’t really count one), but that hasn’t stopped Hollywood executives giving a green light to another sequel. As always with any blockbuster release, there’s a game tie-in. Expect to see the usual promises of deep gameplay and a new story, but we all know what this will most likely be; a cheap cash-in!
Activision released this description of the game:
True to the spirit of the franchise, the original title will feature action-packed, yet light-hearted gameplay mixed with edge-of-your-seat shooting excitement from the universe’s most elite peacekeeping force.
The films’ unique blend of action, humor, and eye-popping special effects will fuel the Men In Black’s gameplay experience. Utilizing the rich mythology of the Men In Black universe, the game’s original story will build on the history of the series to bring back familiar faces, while also introducing new foes. More details on gameplay features and characters will be revealed soon!
Men in Black the game will be released alongside the film in Spring 2012.
London Philharmonic Orchestra releases video games soundtrack album
The London Philharmonic Orchestra are clearly massive games. Next month sees their latest release, an album with some of best pieces of music from video games. The album called ‘Greatest Video Game Music’ will be released from November the 8th digitally and in stores. The album features track from Mass Effect, Metal Gear Solid and many more. Unfortunately they seemed to have missed the track below, which to my ears is one of the best pieces I have ever heard in a game…
