Apparently, Assassin’s Creed 3‘s multiplayer mode will offer a deeper story than it did in previous instalments, becoming more than just an Animus training mode for Templars.
Ubisoft Annecy director Damien Keiken said in an interview with CVG that since the competitive aspect of the Assassin’s series has grown into a game of its own, they were given the task to create a storyline for Abstergo.
“As you progress in the game and level up your character, you access these files and videos. Every month you’ll have new challenges to unlock new content that will continue the storyline throughout the year,” Keiken explained. These frequent DLC episodes sound quite familiar to the content 343 has planend for Halo 4.
In Assassins’ Creed 3, Abstergo is said to have released the Animus to the public as some sort of virtual reality video game. This sudden change of heart to offer such an advanced piece of technology for commercial use will be the main focus of the plot that will be included in multiplayer.
Seeing how Ubisoft is aiming to release content to sustain the upcoming Assassin’s title for an entire year, we assume that they are trying to keep gamers hyped for a sequel in the franchise.
