In an interview with Gamespy, Cameron Tofer of Beamdog and Overhaul Games spoke about the meaning of the Baldur’s Gate series as a whole and what plans might lie ahead.
Tofer claimed that while RPGs have evolved over time, they to do not stand as replacements for old school titles such as Baldur’s Gate. Because of this he believes that there is still a sustainable place for the series in today’s world of gaming.
When asked about plans on a future instalment and a possible kickstarter campaign, Tofer went on to say, “Baldur’s Gate 3 has been our long term goal. We have a lot of things to put in place before such a project can be launched,” Tofer went on stay, when asked about plans on a future plans on a future instalment. “We’re totally thinking Kickstarter. It just makes so much sense and solves so many problems.”
It goes without saying that everybody seems to be jumping on the public funding bandwagon and classic RPGs and Adventure Games seem to be the way to go.
