According to Evolve PR a “much-loved” shooter will be unveiled at this year’s Quakecon. The about the event saying:

“Going to QuakeCon? We’ll be revealing the revival of a much-loved classic PC shooter at the show. What could it be?”

Quakecon is iD software’s annual gaming event where they frequently make big game announcements. The company is often held as the godfather of the FPS genre, having previously worked on the Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein series.

We would bet our bottom dollar that this year’s Quakecon will see DOOM 4 finally unveiled. The game was officially announced a long time ago, but there has been very little news about the FPS. Fans even feared that the game had been cancelled, prompting a Bethesda  rep to address the rumours, stating that the game was still in development.

Quakecon 2012 will take place in Dallas, Texas, from August 2nd-5th.
