At gamescom we were able to get a first look at Rambo, a game by Reef Entertainment based on the first three of the Stallone action films with the same name.
As players take on the role of John Rambo they will be taken through iconic settings from the franchise with a varied arsenal spanning from the trusty bow to the all destroying MG.
Though, the most deciding element of this title is how it actually plays. What might surprise some is the fact that this is going to be an on-rail shooter. The combination of the classic action vibe together with old school shooting mechanics, however, could give the game the Rambo feeling fans are looking for.
Although it can be played with a normal controller, the title lends itself to motion controls, such as the Move.
Wanting to deliver on fan’s demand for “more of Rambo” in the game, Reef is adding animations where the camera will pan out into third person for certain actions in the game, for instance while taking cover.
The entire world is built at this point with the actual campaign still in development. When completed, Rambo is supposed to offer a solid story mode that can be taken on in a few hours, with challenge modes offering replay value.
It is fairly early to judge this title, but with the enthusiasm the team showed for this project, we look forward to see how the final build will play, especially when it comes to the early segments that rely on traps and stealth.
