Modern Warfare 3 was up for Action, Audio Achievement, Online-Multiplayer and GAME Award 2011. It didn’t manage to pick up any awards but getting four nominations is an achievement in itself.

Representing co-developer Sledgehammer Games was Michael Condrey, the companies Co-founder & Chief Development Officer. He was kind enough to stop and take a few questions us and other members of the media.

(M= Media, MC= Michael Condrey)

M: How do you see Elite working, it obviously had a rough start.

MC: Yeah, you know, Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward, we really put our heads down to make Modern Warfare 3 the best game that we could possibly make. The Activision studio, Beachhead, I know did the same for Elite. That studio brought that passion that we had put in the game. I don’t think the Elite guys are here tonight, but we know that it brings fans together in a big way to allow Call of Duty to be alive all the time. Whether it’s through an iOS device, through our game, through the web or a console. I think they are trying to grow from there.

M: We can expect big things from Elite 2.0 then?

MC: Yeah I think so I’m excited to see what they do. For us we’re really focusing on the DLC season for Modern Warfare 3, we’ve got  a lot coming, and really partnering with them [Elite] to get to as many fans as possible.

M: That’s really been a new way to give DLC to customers. How has the feedback been from the community on you provide Elite’s DLC?

MC:  When we first started out we had to figure out the right messaging to the fans. For me the free subscription service is such a  massive value. Everything the Elite free subscription service gives you is awesome right? The ability to connect and learn and grow – all for free. If you are a premium subscriber you’re getting more content than ever as DLC, for cheaper than buying them all separately. We’ve announced twenty-four pieces of DLC, that’s the most content that we’ve ever put out. For a yearly subscription I think it’s great value.

M: So what’s next for Sledgehammer then?

MC: So Sledgehammer games is excited. Being here is a real honour to celebrate Modern Warfare 3. We’re really trying to push the most innovative DLC we can, with our nine-month DLC season. Then the future for us is in Call of Duty. We haven’t announced anything yet, but we love first person shooters and we have the chance to work with one of the best, Infinity Ward, and we are gonna continue to leverage that and keep doing great things and hopefully see you all next year.

M: Thank you for your time and good luck tonight.

Remember we interviewed a whole load of people. Read more from Portal 2, Minecraft and  Battlefield 3′s creators here.
