Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder and GM of BioWare has released a statement directed to the Mass Effect 3 players who were dissatisfied with the trilogy’s conclusion in an attempt to secure the development team’s artistic integrity.
“I personally believe Mass Effect 3 is the best work we’ve yet created,” considering how things are going down, I strongly believe this is not the ideal way for Muzyka to open his statement however he goes on to say that “out of respect to [their] fans, [BioWare needs] to accept the criticism and feedback with humility”.
“Mass Effect 3 concludes a trilogy with so much player control and ownership of the story that it was hard for us to predict the range of emotions players would feel when they finished playing through it,” said Dr. Muzyka before claiming that the harsh feedback they have received from their fans came as a surprise which is why they are “working hard” on finding a way to respond to this issue in a “timely way”.
“Building on their research, Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey,” the BioWare GM explained. “However, most folks appear to agree that the game as a whole is exceptional, with more than 75 critics giving it a perfect review score and a review average in the mid-90s.”
The statement comes to an end under the motto leading the BioWare campaign to satisfy the fans “we are listening” albeit bringing up the fact that a title has received good review scores, while poles are showing in a destructive landslide victory that the public is enraged by the games ending, seems a little bold.
Even though previous statements claimed that we won’t be seeing any changes for now, this comment by Dr. Muzyka shows that BioWare might be caving in to the players demands. If I may say so myself, just don’t let the alternative ending be paid DLC.
