New XIII game to be released for PC, Mac and iOS devices:
Game companies seem to be delving into back-catalogue for ideas recently, but this is one series that we are happy to see revived. Ubisoft are set to launch the game in November, eight years after the original was released and details on the new iteration are currently sparse, Ubisoft did say that the game would, ”go back to the XIII conspiracy origins”.
The original game followed XIII, a secret agent who washes up on a beach with amnesia. No this isn’t a Bourne Identity rip-off, the game is based on a comic book with the same name. XIII was one of the most original shooters of the last generation with its beautiful cel-shaded graphics and unique story.
It is a suprise that Ubisoft have ressurected the franchise, especially as the game had poor sales figures, despite a big marketing campaign and the characters being voiced by Hollywood names such as David Duchovney, Eve and Adam West.
Assassin’s Creed’s Ezio appears in Soul Calibur picture:
Pictures were spotted on PS3Blog.net that showed Assasin’s Creed’s Ezio as a playable character. These were reportedly taken at a Namco-Bandai event. Since the leak the pictures have suspiciously been removed from the blog.
This would not be the first time that Soul Calibur has had fighters from other games. In the past the franchise had had Heihachi (Tekken), Link (Zelda), Spawn (From the comics) and Darth Vader and Yoda (Star Wars), just to name a few. In fact not having any ‘guest fighters’ in a Soul Calibur would buck the trend as they have had at least one in three of the five games in the series.
We could see Ezio fitting in with Soul Calibur’s weapon based gameplay, his list of gadgets and concealed blades would go down a treat. That and Ezio looks pretty badass too.
Watch this space for more news on the hooded assasin as it is released.
Battlefield 3 pre-orders:
There’s only a few weeks until the new Battlefield is released and EA have already said that the new game has impressive sales results, simply based on pre-orders.
EA’s product manager Kevin O’Leary said, “We’re doing very, very well,” he said. “A couple of million [pre-orders] out there. We already announced we’ve done great numbers so far.”
Battlefield have tried to gain early ground on Modern Warfare 3, releasing almost 2 weeks earlier. Commenting on the packed winter release schedule O’Leary said, “in a great window”.
So which one will you be getting, or are will you be purchasing both?
Europe treated to Rayman Orins Collector’s Edition:
I’ve never been the biggest Rayman fan, but the new game Rayman Origins seems to be taking platforming back to its roots with some beautiful art desgin and well solid gameplay elements.
With that said it is nice to see Europe get treated to a collector’s edition of the game that comes bundled with an artbook, official soundtrack, pop-up character and of course a fancy box.
So if you have any spare time during the winter games rush, you may want to pick up this gem and get a few goodies along the way.
Ubisoft are yet to announce whether this offer is exclusive to Europe, or if it will be available worldwide.
Sony Raises the PSN trophy cap:
Anyone getting close to reaching level 50 on there PSN account may now rejoice as Sony have announced they will be raising the level cap.
One user named Hakoom had reached level 50 and found he could not get his level any higher. He has now confirmed that he has managed to get up to level 55. For those of you not familiar with PSN levels, that means Hakoom has achieved 15,662 trophies (set tasks in games). He has also earned 296 Platinum trophies, which means he has completely finished every single, nook, cranny and obscure challenge in these games.
I’m only just about reaching level 10 and I’ve sunk an unknown amount of my life (at least 300+ hours) into my PS3. Not far for me to go then…
Man i used to love XIII, if a new one is coming out im gonna have to rush out and cop a copy! YOWZAAAAAAAAAA
