Netflix comes to UK

Movie rental stores are in for a huge shake up in the UK as Netflix plans to launch in good ol’ Blighty.

Netflix is currently available to those in the US with a PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, 3DS, tablet or smartphone.

Not only does Netflix have a bigger catalogue than most competitors for on demand viewing, but the streaming service allows to watch an unlimited amount of content for one flat payment a month. With that in mind, Netflix is set to give big rental services like Blockbuster and LoveFilm a run for their money.

There is currently no specific details on Netflix’s launch, with price plans to be announced later and release date that is only penned down for “early 2012”.

No surprises here. New Medal of Honour teased with Battlefield leaflets.

If you have a copy of Battlefield 3 already; A) You are damned lucky! B) You will have seen a small leaflet with a symbol similar to last years Medal of Honour’s ‘Tier 1′ logo.

The last game in the Medal of Honour series went down well with the critics and public, while it didn’t break any records it put EA’s failing franchise back on the map.

The leaflet’s grimacing face suggests that the game may have a more jovial style this time round, similar to the Bad Company series. We are not really too sure what to make of the big one slapped in the middle of the logo, as a re-make or re-boot would be an odd move from EA.

Keep tuned for more information as it comes through.

Sony say that PSN downtime has “woken up our customer’s”

Get the spin doctors in again, its time for some more damage control. The PSN hack that put thousands of machines offline was big enough news without Sony continually drawing attention to their own faults.

It does not seem that the Japanese giants agree with this though, as they have stepped up their PR campaign, trying to create a positive light on the COD-killing/girlfriend-romance-rekindling outage of PSN.

“Our outage has woken up our dormant customers, we have improved the platform, the content, how you can access your content,” So Saida, Sony’s senior director of global business strategy and development said.

“We have increased the revenue of games by 14 percent. We have acquired 800,000 active users for Music Unlimited, five percent revenue for Video Unlimited and we now have three million accounts for this service.”

That, or a good set of upcoming games and a price drop has helped, who knows!

Insomniac file new trademarks

Insomniac have finished their exclusive links with Sony and last year they announced their move to multiformat. Since then little has been heard from the studio other than a new action/shooter game Overkill.

Today Insomniac were spotted filing two new trademarks with the name ‘Space Beasts’ and ‘Galaxy Bests’. One would pressume that these are for a set of games from the same series, which show how confident Insomniac feel in their new project.

Insomniac are responsible for the Resistance and Rachet and Clank games on the Playstation 3.
