Brothers in Arms Furious 4 Cancelled?

Update: Gamesradar has reached out to Ubisoft who responded with the following, “Initially, Ubisoft submitted the trademarks on behalf of Gearbox with Gearbox and Ubisoft as co-applicants. The [United States Patent and Trademark Office] rejected this approach (about 9 months ago), noting Gearbox’s exclusive registrations for all Brothers in Arms trademarks. Given the USPTO choice between abandonment or continued administrative confusion on the matter, we simply opted for administrative abandonment until re-filing becomes necessary.  To avoid confusion with the USPTO, Gearbox will be filing its future Brothers in Arms-related trademarks directly and individually.”

The bottom line is that Furious 4 is still in development, according to Ubisoft.

Rumours have been floating around that Ubisoft’s “video game version of Inglorious Bastards” might be in some trouble, but recent updates might be proof that Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 might never see the light of day.

Fans were able to uncover the two separate trademark records, which state that they have been “abandoned because the applicant failed to respond or filed a late response to an Office action” leaving us to believe that the project has been canceled.

Seeing how Ubisoft is focusing on promoting their more “contemporary” tactical shooters, the development team at Gearbox might have just silently walked away from this endeavour. Even though we doubt seeing any more from the Furious 4, are only hope is that they have been rebranded for E3.
